Your library card not only allows you access to Kewanee Public Library’s collection but also to libraries belonging to the Resource Sharing Alliance. You can look at these collections by using the catalog on our website. When you find the material you are looking for, you can place a hold and then you will be notified when it is ready for pick up. This is called IntraLibrary Loan.
If you are unable to find what you are looking for from any library in our catalog, you may ask one of our staff to place a request for you and we will look throughout the state of Illinois for the material you are interested in. You will be notified when the item is ready for pick up. If we are unable to find what you are requesting, you will be notified. This is called InterLibrary Loan.
When materials come in from other libraries, patrons have 7 days from the day they are notified (by phone, email or text) to come in to pick them up. If materials are habitually not picked up, this could result in the patron’s loss of privileges to borrow from other libraries.
We are happy to borrow materials from other libraries for you, but we do ask that you respect the date by which those materials must be returned to their home libraries. When Kewanee Public Library District is lax in returning materials borrowed from other libraries, the library can lose the privilege of borrowing materials in that way for any of its patrons. It is crucial, therefore, that materials borrowed from other libraries be returned in a timely manner. Habitual failure to do so may result in individual loss of the privilege in order to preserve the privilege for other library patrons.
There are no fees for borrowing from other libraries. However, in special circumstances some libraries may charge but the patron would be notified for their authorization before the request is finalized.
Fines will be accrued for overdue materials.
