Public Library is about to begin a critical project, and we need
your help.
We
must replace the leaky, dysfunctional windows on two floors.
In these days of rapidly rising fuel costs, our new
energy-efficient replacements will save the Library District a lot
of money in heating and cooling costs. The new windows will
also provide a much more comfortable environment for Library
users, and the windows’ built-in ultraviolet filtering will even
help protect the building interior and Library materials.
We are well on our way toward accumulating the necessary funds: we
have gotten approval for a State of
Illinois
construction grant for $25,000, and we have building funds to use
with the grant to enable us to complete the first floor windows.
An additional $39,000 would allow us to replace the second floor
windows too. We must spend the grant money within a short
period of time, and we could save several thousand dollars if we
are able to have the windows of both floors replaced this summer.
That’s why we’re asking for your help now.
All gifts will be acknowledged on a special plaque in the Library.
Your gift of $1,500 or more will allow you to have a plaque with
the name of your choice on the window that you designate (see
enclosed sheet for details). Your gift will also give you
the satisfaction of knowing that you have made a significant
contribution that will benefit our whole community.
As someone who has contributed to other projects for the Library
already, we know that you appreciate the importance of the Library
to our community. We are most grateful for your past
support, and hope that you will give serious consideration to this
project. Replacing those old windows will make such a
difference to our patrons and to our bottom line. Please
help as much as you can.
Sincerely,
John E. Sayers
Director
