The Henry County Genealogical Society houses its collection at the Kewanee Public Library on the lower level. Visitors are welcome to research family history using this collection in the room.
The library also offers the use of a microfilm reader/printer to look up information in old newspapers. The HCGS has made available different Kewanee newspapers from 1857 – 2010 on microfilm for research. This is not an all inclusive collection as some issues may be missing. Newer rolls are added to the collection as funds and the microfilm become available.
There are also some census records available for Henry County and other surrounding counties.
The Henry County Genealogical Society meets at the library on the 4th Monday of each month in the Community Room on the second floor.
