Getting a Library Card

Any Kewanee Public Library District resident or property owner, Kindergarten age and up may get a free card.  In order to maintain accurate records and protect our patrons, we require 2 forms of identification to get a new card.  To renew your library card, you only need a photo ID.

One ID needs to include a photo, such as your driver’s license.  The other ID can be a piece of mail that you have received, your checkbook or something showing your name and current address.  Once we verify that you are eligible, we ask that you update your current application or fill one out.  It takes approximately 5-10 minutes to issue a library card so stop by today and apply or renew.

If you need to replace your current library card, we do charge $1.00 for the first, $3.00 for the second, and $5.00 for the third or more replacement card.  If you have an expired plastic card, we can simply update it at no cost to you so do not throw it away!

A parent or guardian signature is required for anyone under the age of 18 years.  All accrued fines must be paid in full before a person’s current or expired library card can be used or updated.

New users are limited to 2 checkouts at a time for the first 30 days.

Please call the Library at 852-4505 with any questions.
