Library Getting Facelift!

Kewanee Public Library has
received a grant through the
Live and Learn Construction
Grant Program which is funded
by an annual state legislative
appropriation and assists public
libraries with construction costs
in their facilities. Grants are
awarded based on recommendations
from a statewide committee
following a review process. The
exterior work on the 1906 Carnegie
library building is partially funded
by the Live and Learn Construction
Grant Project. State funds are
administerred by the Secretary of
State and State Librarian, Jesse White.
The work should be completed by
August 19 according to the project
schedule.

Back to Books Grant
The library has received a $5000 grant for "Steam Rolling into Science". Approximately 250 science books have been purchased for K-12 graders in the areas of animals and insects, astronomy, chemistry and weather. Books will be on display and ready for check out soon. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
