Thanksgiving HOLIDAY Hours
The Library will close at 5pm on Wednesday, November 22nd and will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 23th & 24th so staff may enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday. We will reopen on Saturday, November 25th with our regular hours of 9am - 1pm.

Kenny Blum from Ameren will be here on Tuesday, November 28th @ 10:30am to tell us how to save money on our utility bills and be prepared for a storm. He has lots of worthwhile information that can benefit everyone and he will have door prizes and handouts!

Are you looking for an end of the year tax deduction? We have had fantastic community response to our project so far as well as the help of the Kewanee Historical Society and the Henry County Genealogical Society. We have 220 rolls of microfilm (through 1961) digitized and available online. There are just over 200 more rolls to be done to bring the project up to the end of 1999. We have been notified that the cost of digitizing will increase at the beginning of 2018. Until the end of 2017, the cost per roll is $95. This would be a great time for end of the year donations to help us take advantage of the lower price. If you would like to donate, please contact the library.

We are now showing a recently released movie on the second Tuesday of the month @ 2pm. November 14th will be "Cars 3"! We want to thank Wanee Theater for providing us with popcorn! If you missed it at the theater, you still have a chance to see it on the big screen!

Homeschoolers' Afternoon is back on the first Wednesday of the month for September, October, and November. Pre-School Night Storytime will be held November 7th at 6pm.

Photography for Teens (6th-12th graders)
Learn new skills in photography and photo editing. Throughout this school year, photographer Joni Harden will lead sessions on the best methods for taking photos and editing them. These sessions are free of charge. The library will provide equipment for use during sessions. This program is sponsored by a grant (Project Next Generation) which was awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a division of the office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library and Services Technology Act (LSTA).

See Sarah Barth in the Youth Services Dept. to find out about the "Horror" Book Club which will meet Thursday, November 16th @ 4:30pm.

Join us on the fourth Thursday of the month at noon in the Community Room. Find a recipe that fits this month's theme (German), prepare it and bring it along with copies of your recipe to share for a delightful lunch with old and new friends!

Friends of the Library present "Creativity @ the Carnegie". Come "sit & sew" with your knitting, crocheting, embroidery, cross stitching or quilting. Check out our summer hours on the events calendar for details.

The Henry County Genealogical Society, Kewanee Historical Society and Kewanee Public Library District are requesting donations to digitize the Kewanee newspapers now on microfilm here at the library. Once digitized, the newspapers will be able to be searched from your computer. The link to the first group of newspapers that we had digitized is now available for you to use. Click on the heading above and it will take you to the newspapers. This is an ongoing project and as more of the microfilm is digitized, it will be added to this link until all of the microfilm has been digitized. Anyone, not just Kewanee Public Library District patrons, will be able to access this particular link to look at the old newspapers.

The new service includes free tests, written specifically based on Illinois DMV materials, and is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that allow users to hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask sections of the screen for greater visibility on driving practice tests.
