To celebrate, adults and young adults who gets a new library card or renews an expired card will receive a free book to take home with them.

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 20 @ 6pm to come learn all about your Medicare choice that can become overwhelming when reviewing your options. We will have many tools and resources that make it easy to understand the basics of Medicare, including a free "Show Me Guide".

Opening Night will be Monday, October 17th and run through October 21st. Applications are available here or at the library. Art will be accepted Monday & Tuesday, Octove 10th & 11th.

Tickets have gone on sale for "The Nifty Fifties & Sixties" performed by the The Legacy Girls on Saturday, October 29. Social Hour 6pm, Dinner 6:30pm, Music 7:30pm

Homeschoolers are back starting September 7. Kids can stop in on September 10 & 17 between 10am and noon for LEGO Drop-In Saturdays in the Youth Department on the second floor. See Sarah Barth in the Youth Services Dept. to find out about the "Escape Room" and the "Horror" Book Club! Also, the Henry County Genealogical Society is presenting Ken Norcross files, "Histoy of Western Township" by Maryann Wherry on September 26. Check the events calendar for details.

Friends of the Library present "Creativity @ the Carnegie". Come "sit & sew" with your knitting, crocheting, embroidery, cross stitching or quilting. We had a nice turn out so far but we have room for more!

Our September theme is "Veggies". Find a recipe that fits the theme, make it and bring it along with copies of the recipe to the KPLD Community Room on Thursday, September 22 at noon to share with our Recipe Round Up members! Join us for good food, friendship, and lots of laughter!


Don't know what to do with those bins of LEGOS the kids have outgrown? The Youth Department is looking for donations of LEGOS. We are happy to take used LEGOS that are in good condition to use for a monthly program for elementary school students.

Driving-Tests Logo 300-115Kewanee Public Library District is partnering with Driving-Tests.org, a company dedicated to driver safety and education, to offer free DMV practice tests to library patrons. The new service includes free tests, written specifically based on Illinois DMV materials, and is the only site of its kind to include accessibility tools that allow users to hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask sections of the screen for greater visibility on driving practice tests.
