Library Receives Grant
A Project Next Generation Grant for the program Teens 'n' Technology has awarded the Youth Services and Young Adult Departments a total of 10 new computers plus additional equipment and books to be used in mini courses on technology. During the 2014-15 school year, Information Technology and Youth Department members will teach six mini courses to students in 7th - 12th grades. Topics for September and October include: Using PowerPoint and Digital Photography. This program is sponsored by a grant which was awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).

5th Annual Art Show Coming Soon!
Get your entries ready to drop off at the library during library hours (9am - 7pm) on Monday and Tuesday, October 13th and 14th. The exhibits will be on display in the library community room from Monday, October 20th - Saturday, October 25th. You can stop in anytime at the Information Services desk in the lower level of the library to pick up a brochure outlining the guidelines and procedures. The art show is open to the residents of the surrounding towns as well as Kewanee residents.

Back to Books Grant
The library has received a $5000 grant for "Steam Rolling into Science". Approximately 250 science books have been purchased for K-12 graders in the areas of animals and insects, astronomy, chemistry and weather. Books will be on display and ready for check out soon. Funding for this grant was awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a Division of the Office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
