We will be closed Saturday through Monday, December 30th through January 1st for the New Years holiday.

Pre-K Creativity is beginning weekly on Tuesdays, January 9th through February 13th. Caregivers and their pre-kindergarten children can join us for StoryTime and an art project.

Are you looking for an end of the year tax deduction? We have had fantastic community response to our project so far as well as the help of the Kewanee Historical Society and the Henry County Genealogical Society. We have 220 rolls of microfilm (through 1961) digitized and available online. There are just over 200 more rolls to be done to bring the project up to the end of 1999. We have been notified that the cost of digitizing will increase at the beginning of 2018. Until the end of 2017, the cost per roll is $95. This would be a great time for end of the year donations to help us take advantage of the lower price. If you would like to donate, please contact the library.

We are now showing a recently released movie on the second Tuesday of the month @ 2pm. January 9th will be "Dunkirk"! We want to thank Wanee Theater for providing us with popcorn! If you missed it at the theater, you still have a chance to see it on the big screen!

Homeschoolers' Afternoon is taking a break until March 2018. For Family Fun STEAM Night on Tuesday, January 16th, you will be making "Snowball" Catapult & Shooter. 5th-8th graders will be making DIY Buttons on Wednesday, January 17th.

PHOTOGRAPHY FOR TEENS (6th-12th graders)
Learn new skills in photography and photo editing. Throughout this school year, photographer Joni Harden will lead sessions on the best methods for taking photos and editing them. These sessions are free of charge. The library will provide equipment for use during sessions. This program is sponsored by a grant (Project Next Generation) which was awarded by the Illinois State Library (ISL), a division of the office of Secretary of State, using funds provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), under the federal Library and Services Technology Act (LSTA).

See Sarah Barth in the Youth Services Dept. to find out about the "Horror" Book Club which will meet Thursday, January 25th @ 4:30pm.

Friends of the Library present "Creativity @ the Carnegie". Come "sit & sew" with your knitting, crocheting, embroidery, cross stitching or quilting.

The Henry County Genealogical Society, Kewanee Historical Society and Kewanee Public Library District are requesting donations to digitize the Kewanee newspapers now on microfilm here at the library. Once digitized, the newspapers will be able to be searched from your computer. The link to the first group of newspapers that we had digitized is now available for you to use. Click on the heading above and it will take you to the newspapers. This is an ongoing project and as more of the microfilm is digitized, it will be added to this link until all of the microfilm has been digitized. Anyone, not just Kewanee Public Library District patrons, will be able to access this particular link to look at the old newspapers.
