JANUARY LIBRARY BOARD MEETING
The Library Board ,meeting has been changed from Monday, January 9, 2017 to Monday, January 16, 2017 at 4pm in the Library Community Room.

BOOK CLUB MEETS SCIENCE CAFÉ
Please join us for a book and video discussion group that will be meeting at 6pm on the following Wednesdays.
February 22 - "When the Killing's Done"
March 8 - "Arctic Drift"
March 22 - "The Land of the Painted Caves"
April 12 - "Thunderstruck"
Science teachers Alan Abbott & Isaac Stewart will be our facilitators. Please call the library at 309-852-4505 or stop at the main floor circulation desk to register for your free copies of the books that you will get to keep. We will watch two short videos each evening - one about the author and one that will be a human interest story relating to the book of the evening. The books will be available for pick up in early January so you can read them at your discretion. Be sure to register so we have plenty of copies available. Refreshments will be served each evening.

"GET READY" for FILING YOUR 2016 TAXES
The IRS has launched a "Get Ready" campaign to educate as many taxpayers as possible about steps you can take in December regarding changes that could affect your ability to timely file your tax returns and get your refunds as quickly as possible. Check out www.IRS.gov/getready

DEPT. 56 SNOW VILLAGE
Come and enjoy the Dept. 56 Snow Village and this year's new additions. This one of a kind arrangement will be available for viewing now through January 17, 2017. Stop at one of the circulation desks and ask to see it.

ACCESS TO DIGITIZED NEWSPAPERS
The Henry County Genealogical Society, Kewanee Historical Society and Kewanee Public Library District are requesting donations to digitize the Kewanee newspapers now on microfilm here at the library. Once digitized, the newspapers will be able to be searched from your computer. The link to the first group of newspapers that we had digitized is now available for you to use. Click on the heading above and it will take you to the newspapers. This is an ongoing project and as more of the microfilm is digitized, it will be added to this link until all of the microfilm has been digitized. Anyone, not just Kewanee Public Library District patrons, will be able to access this particular link to look at the old newspapers.

JANUARY ACTIVITIES
Christmas Make & Take Crafts will be offered January 3. Stop in for Make & Take Crafts on January 16 when the students are out of school for Martin Luther King Day. 5th - 8th graders will be making DIY Shrinky Dink Pins on January 18 @ 3:30pm. On January 19, 13 year olds and older can stop by to make a "Calm Down Jar" @ 3:30pm. Bring your family to Silly Stories Family Night @ 6pm on January 23. See Sarah Barth in the Youth Services Dept. to find out about the "Horror" Book Club! Legos will be available on Saturdays in the Youth Department.

CREATIVITY @ THE CARNEGIE
Friends of the Library present "Creativity @ the Carnegie". Come "sit & sew" with your knitting, crocheting, embroidery, cross stitching or quilting. Check the events calendar for details.

LEGOSLEGO DONATIONS

Don't know what to do with those bins of LEGOS the kids have outgrown? The Youth Department is looking for donations of LEGOS. We are happy to take used LEGOS that are in good condition to use for a monthly program for elementary school students.
